What is Word error rate?
How often speech recognition gets words wrong.
Word Error Rate is the proportion of words a recogniser inserts, deletes or substitutes against a reference transcript. Lower is better, but the figure is only meaningful alongside the conditions it was measured in — telephone audio scores worse than studio audio on every system.
