What is Area code?

The prefix that identifies a number's geographic region.

An area code is the part of a phone number that identifies its region — 416 for Toronto, 212 for Manhattan, 0161 for Manchester. Callers read it as a signal of where a business is, which is why a local code often outperforms a national or toll-free one for local trade.

This is an industry glossary. A term defined here is not a statement that Drop AI provides it — see the pricing page for what is included.
