What is Jitter?
Variation in packet arrival time, heard as choppy audio.
Jitter is inconsistency in the delay between arriving audio packets. Steady delay is tolerable; varying delay is not, because the receiver has to either wait or drop packets. It is a common cause of calls that sound broken up despite adequate bandwidth.
